The 12 meter yacht Columbia was another of the successful
America's Cup defenders. She was built in 1958 at Nevins Shipyard, City Island, New York, USA.
The original skipper was Briggs Cunningham and the tactician was Olin J. Stephens II. She sailed
with a crew of 11. In the 17th match of the 1958 America’s Cup, Columbia beat Sceptre
and continued as a power in 12 meter sailing into the seventies. She was a finalist in the 1967 America's
Cup defender trials. Defeated by Intrepid. You can still see Columbia sailing off Newport as a charter
boat today.
This beautiful watercolor reproduction is printed on watercolor
